Daily World News,
Nicholas Sarkozy said Britain should open an asylum centre to deal with migrants in Calais
The former French President, who is attempting a political comeback, said Britain should let migrants currently camped out in Calais into the country.
It is estimated there are up to 9,000 migrants packed into squalid conditions inside the Calais camp known as The Jungle, with many hoping to make the crossing into Britain.
In the past two years the number of migrants in the camp has swelled with many making nightly attempts to reach Britain illegally through the Channel Tunnel.

A French riot police officer stands as migrants try to hide in lorries heading for England
Images of hundreds of migrants trying to leap onto trucks bound for Britain and security concerns have prompted French politicians to threaten to tear up Le Touquet treaty and move the British border back across the channel.
Mr Sarkozy’s remarks come days after Dover and Deal MP Charlie Elphicke has submitted a report to Home Secretary Amber Rudd urging her to seek a new treaty with France to tackle the ongoing problems caused by the squalid encampment.
As well as wanting it removed, he complained that French police compound the issues by simply letting go any people traffickers or smuggled migrants that they find - thus freeing them to attempt repeated further illegal and hazardous crossings to the UK.
He also wants all lorries fitted with anti-trafficking devices to stop people sneaking onto the trucks.
